Building on our breakthrough year last year, we can now confirm that we are expecting to see on-site cashless transactions exceed the £6 million mark this summer across our schedule of festivals and major events in the UK. This represents a two-fold increase in the value of transactions recorded through our payment systems at events last year

With the deployment of RFID enabled wristband technology expected to increase by a huge 70% this year and over 3.5 million smart wristbands being issued across the summer season, we are anticipating a significant increase in on-site spending.

This year, we have already deployed our systems at UEFA Champions League Final in Lisbon, the French Open in Paris, the Grand National at Aintree as well as a debut appearance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow recently which saw us deliver a managed fast card payment system for VIP guests.

This summer will see our largest and most diverse roll-out to date, with more than 50 events already confirmed before the year-end spanning music, sport, brand activation, exhibitions and academia.

As well as providing payment solutions at almost every major UK music festival, plus large-scale outdoor concerts at London’s Finsbury Park and the Milton Keynes Bowl, activations of our smart technology this summer will include:

  • Audience engagement and on-site social media integration at the Isle Of Wight Festival
  • Crew management and catering at T In The Park
  • Full public access control at The Goodwood Festival Of Speed and many other major live events at the estate
  • RFID access control and social media integration at Oxford University’s Trinity Commemoration Ball
  • RFID cashless payments, access control & social media integration services at Holi One Colour Festivals touring the UK throughout the summer
  • Teenager registration and full access control at WOMAD
  • VIP experiences using RFID for Google at Cannes Lions Festival
  • Public access control and crew catering management at Wings 2014 – a week-long international gathering of Guides and Scouts in Windsor Great Park
  • Innovative visitor tracking and personalised content delivery at The Skills Show, taking place at the NEC Birmingham

Our large and diverse deployment schedule for 2014 is proof to us that event owners in all sectors value a more flexible approach to going cashless. By giving customers choice in their payment method, whether that’s using an RFID wristband, mobile handset, an eWallet or just their existing debit card, they will be more receptive to making the transition and will choose to spend more whilst they are on-site.
