Enabling contactless card payments at BBC Proms In The Park

Proms In The Park

Proms In The Park

We were pleased to be back in London’s Hyde Park last weekend for BBC Proms In The Park. Working with our friends at Central Catering Services, we installed our super-fast IP-based card acceptance system into the event’s main, champagne and cocktail bars as well as Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts catering units.

Visitors to the 40,000 capacity event could leave their cash at home and pay using chip + PIN, swipe and contactless payments from VISA and MasterCard credit and debit cards. With transaction times of just 1-3 seconds – much faster than the high street – this made it all the more easy for fans to enjoy the last night of the Proms.

Festivities included British pop legend Bryan Ferry heading up a spectacular line-up that also boasted world-famous tenor Joseph Calleja with Proms in the Park favourites the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe.

The IVS payment system

Violin virtuoso Nigel Kennedy made a special appearance before hot-footing over to the Albert Hall for his second performance of the night! Sir Terry Wogan presented the celebrations and special guest Dame Edna Everage led the traditional sing-a-long.

The IVS payment solution is powered by Global Payments, a Tier-One acquirer, and delivered in conjunction with our Payment Service Provider partners TS3 Services Ltd., a PCI-DSS certified transaction processing provider connected to all the major UK acquirers.

The combination of these partners enables us to offer the fastest, most reliable solution on the market today, with features specifically designed for outdoor events and the lowest possible transaction rates.

Last Import - 19The solution is backed by MasterCard Europe as part of their effort to support the spread of electronic payments into the Festivals and events market.

As well as improving the experience for customers, the system features a real-time transactional and management interface for the bar operator and event management, showing transactions by terminal and location as they happen, plus on-site operational training and support.

This follows our previous deliveries of the service this summer at the Isle Of Wight Festival, T In The Park, both legs of V Festival, Cornbury, Weyfest and The Ashes at Old Trafford, among other major events.
