Bolting ahead towards a cashless Grand National

The IVS payment system

The IVS payment system

We were delighted to deploy our managed fast card payment solution at the Grand National, one of the world’s most iconic horse races, taking place at Ainstree last weekend.

Following an 11th hour request from our friends at Central Catering Services, we enabled racegoers to use their credit and debit cards to purchase drinks with 2 second (average) transaction speeds, at the 60 metre long Embankment Bar, reducing the need to use cash at the world’s greatest steeplechase.

Our best-of-breed payment solution ensured that plenty of champagne was consumed as punters either celebrated or drowned their sorrows at the sell-out event, attended by 71,000.

It was a historic event all-round as 25/1 Pineau De Re clinched the first ever £1m Grand National.

After three action packed days of entertainment, with only one course arrest and no jockeys and horses injured, race chiefs hailed the festival as a huge success.

Around 600 million are thought to have tuned in to watch live on TV.

We look forward to expanding our work with Central Catering and the Grand National in future.

This complements our continuing work, since 2010, with Goodwood which includes smart access control and RFID solutions at their race meetings and other events.
